Okay. VERY tough decision in the end. Some really great submissions!
In the end I simply decided to try and ignore all of the text and choose the one that in my humble opinion was most instantly recognisable as Gaga.
Thank you all!
Special mentions:
Kekit: thanks for all the advice! Turns out you're not such a bad guy after all :)
Igladkovac: thank you. If it's any consolation your submission made my final decision a nightmare :)
HackGate: thank you for being friendly when I was down in a corner feeling like I just got mugged :)
Vixxxen: your sense of commitment to the task was so encouraging. I know how hard you worked on this.
Everyone I have forgotten: Thank you!!!

Just a heads up.
You don't have to reject all other entries, just because you are choosing one winner.
Each entry you reject makes it's author lose credits on freelancer. I don't care for mine, but just keep that in mind so you won't make lose credits to freelancers that don't deserver it.
In short, just pick the winner, and leave the other entries.
Good luck with your decision!- 11 years ago

Hehe.
You are really apologizing too much. It's a great thing you are such a nice person though.
The change doesn't give back the credits, but I still wanted to let you know that, for future reference.
I hope you will consider using freelancer again in the future, and this bad experience won't make you lose hope in mankind hehe.
Cheers- 11 years ago

You are a unic employer, for me your atitude is the best! thanks for all the words you said before i really appreciated:)
This case of losing credits its not the most important thing and it's a new improvement of freelancer but i tottally understood your method.

If I may offer a few comments based on my first experience hosting a competition:
1. The "customer" has many responsibilities on here, and not all of them are always well anticipated by the customer. We post on here and outsource work because it is not our area of expertise or we just don't have the raw talent and capabilities to perform certain tasks. I am not saying the buyers are incompetent ? our talents just lie elsewhere which is why we outsource work we cannot do ourselves.- 11 years ago

For one I have learnt a valuable lesson thanks to those with the courage of their convictions and the integrity to stand by these. Thanks to all those who were honourable in their submissions and comments. To those who were less honourable I am simply too polite to put my thoughts about you onto paper, but know that you will never prosper as long as there are good and honourable people to uphold a high ethical standard of honesty.

I am struggling with my final decision, but am hoping to make one real soon. To those that made honest submissions but do not win, please do not be discouraged. It is not always a judgement on your work but tastes simply differ, and in the nature of the competition, as in life, we cannot win all the time. Hold your heads up high and keep up the good work. There are many people out there who are looking for exactly what you may have to offer.

WOW, what a courage suHridoy, posting an original character from Anime "Shuffle"..... is anyone else seeing this?!?!?! Now that's truly sad..... link: http://konachan.com/post/show/39363/lisianthus-shuffle-tagme

I hope these stuff won't discourage people to create contests here. This is also one of the reasons why I stopped posting artworks on DA :(

And the most sad thing is that even if we report him to freelancer.com, they won't do absolutely anything to punish him. Thefts like these should be punished by banning freelancers, or better said thieves.

Just tidying up. Please note that I have rejected some images because they are similar by the same artist or a progression of an idea. In these cases I have kept my favourite of the series or multiple images in question and rejected the others in order to avoid confusion.

Question on Ethics:
Hi, as most of you know by now this is my first competition on Freelancer. I have an ethical question though. I know I have guaranteed one winner of the competition. But what are the ethics if I really like more than one submission?
Is it okay to purchase an image directly from an artist based on one of their submissions even if that image did not win?
I thought that running a competition seemed like the best value for money as I got the most options this way but I do not have 200 USD for every image. Is it acceptable to offer less than the original prize money if you wish to acquire multiple images from the submissions even if there can only be one winner of the competition?- 11 years ago

Okay. I am reading the FAQs now. I should have known better and done this a long time ago. It's like they know the most common questions or something! Doh!!! :)

On most deviantart contests, we have 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes usually so a CH can get multiple images for himself. I'm not so sure about here on freelancer though.

Hi,
I feel like a stuck record I have apologised so much in this competition. I do admit I have made many many mistakes on my first outing using the Freelancer competitions. I have taken all of this in and am learning from this experience. Unfortunately I have made special arrangements with a friend of mine who owns a print shop to do the print work for me on Friday even though the shop is technically closed for the holidays. Extending now would have a knock-on effect and I feel like I would just let more people down, not to mention that I think it may be unfair to those who have been involved since the start of the competition and stayed with it in spite of the poor way I have managed it.
Regards,

Hi ALL, just a quick comment about the file format. Please forgive me but this is not my area of expertise. I apologise that this comment comes so late in the competition. I simply need something I can take to a printer to print in poster size. You would probably know better than I what the most suitable format would be.

Is it possible to get an extension of the contest of, say 1 or 2 days?
Since I did not know you liked my image, I was not working on it after I submitted the first sketch. Now I know what you want and I can manage to put together the final image in full print resolution. I just do not know if 19 hours are going to be enough. It's Christmas time after all :).- 11 years ago

mike27772. The best thing for you to get what you need, is to give ratings to all images posted. You can even reject the stuff you don't like. Nobody's going to get offended. Don't worry.

It is my own illustration from top to bottom. Here is just the lineout for you to see, this is in fact mine:

As for her image, I can change that and make her more like gaga, since this is not the final image but only a sketch. I'll try to come up with a better illustration in the next hours.

Hi. To me this is not really recognisable as Lady Gaga. I have been struggling to find that something that makes an animated picture of someone instantly recognisable, but some other submissions have managed this better.
