I have a project that needs good experience and expertise in Excel and Visual Basic. The project is to create a tool that reconstructs investment histories, given a few basic inputs.
For example, the inputs will be something like:
1. Date of first investment: 1/1/2006
2. Frequency of investment: Monthly, on the first day of each month
3. Amount of investment each month: £1000
4. Area of investment: 25% into Fund A; 25% into Fund B; 50% into Fund C
5. Monthly fund management charge: £25
Given these inputs, the tool will "reconstruct" the investment history, and will provide a calculation of how much the value of the investment is at the current date. The reconstruction will be presented in an Excel worksheet.

The reconstruction would continue like this up to the current date. It could then calculate the current total value of the investment.
There would be extra features that make the reconstruction slightly more complicated than this example. The kind of features would be:
1. The amount of investment could change. So, for example, after 1 year the amount of monthly investment increases by 25%.
2. Some of the investments might be sold halfway through, and new investments might be bought with this money.
3. The area of investment might change. For example, after 1 year a new fund is introduced and invested in.
4. The level of fund management charges might change after a year or two.
To include these features, extra inputs will be given. Inputs such as: the date that the amount of investment changes; the amount the investment changes by; the date that some investments are sold etc.
I believe that this tool can be created using Excel formulas only without Visual Basic. I managed to nearly complete this in only a day or two of work. However, I would prefer Visual Basic so that the efficiency (speed) of the tool and its power is maximised. I want the code to be as simple and clean as possible.
Please don’t ask for too much for this project as I know from personal experience that it is fairly easy for someone with good VB and Excel skills to implement.
