I am a researcher and I want to start a health care blog/healthy living site. To start it will be focused on just skin-related topics but in the future I want to reuse the wordpress theme to create a website with a more broad healthcare/healthy living focus.

The site should be centered around a blog with about 100 bloggers contributing. It should have a staging system so that blog posts can be approved before going live . Also, I would allow other websites to republish our blog posts with an appropriate rel=canonical tag etc. Thus, it would be best if there was a button that a reader could click on to create the appropriate HTML text for the republishing the blog post so that there are no misunderstandings our requirements to republish. "The Conversation" website uses such a button for republishing of their blog posts and I think this is a great idea. Of course each blog post will need social media buttons (tweet button etc.) so that the posts can be shared AND a tally on how many times the post was shared.

However, in addition to blog posts, the site should also have a lot of static content. For example, if someone wants to learn about ACNE they can search for ANCE or click on a link found under the tab (topics/diseases A to Z), which would take them to a page with static text about the specific disease or topic that they are interested. Partially surrounding the static text will be relevant blog posts on ACNE. Bloggers will be allowed to tag their posts with multiple topics/disease tags that appear in our list of topics/diseases A to Z. So that when someone clicks or searchers for ACNE they can find all of the blog posts on that topic. More than one tag can be assigned to the same article and the blogger can select the tags before their post is staged for review and approval.

Finally, there should be advertisements on the blog AND the ability to sell our own products that are related to the blog post. For example, if there was a post on How to Deal with Dry Skin, then their should be links to purchase our related dry skin care products. Advertisements for third party products that link-out to that company should also appear near the blog post.

The homepage of the site should have tabs for our store, a "Check out button", tab for diseases/topics A to Z, an About Us tab, etc...

The homepage should also contain the recent and most read blog posts, a few advertisements, and links to the most POPULAR/COMMONLY CLICKED on diseases/topics. We can also highlight the 3 most popular bloggers (some of the stuff we can do manually every month). The homepage should also have embedded videos/ interface with our YouTube Channel or some other way to present videos on topics (I am not sure what the best way to do this is but a few bloggers should be allowed to do video posts or at least I should be allowed to post videos).

I would like to use the blog to also promote some of my personal ideas about healthy living and myself as an expert in nutrition, immunity, and cancer. So there needs to be a photo and/or a a video or a link about myself. I am a somewhat prominent authority on skin.

In the future, I want to have many websites but the idea is to have the first site be focused just on skin and then if that site is successful to create a second more general site on healthy living/nutrition/ with much broader disease-relevant posts.

I WOULD LIKE THE PROJECT TO NOT START UNTIL MID APRIL. Also, I have lots of experience creating and designing websites and in print publishing. Our team was the first to publish medical info on the web. We created a few popular sites and had the highest PageRank of all the skin/dermatology-relevant sites but that was a long time ago. Now I am too old and too busy to take on a project like this. But please expect a few changes to your design as we are very particular on how things look.

We will help by sketching out the top level framework, pick the typography, color theme, etc.. We will try to be as helpful as possible without being too annoying.
