DC migration and decommission of old DC

Adding a new domain controller to a network and decommission the old DC controller. Server 2016 to server 2022. Would like to have step-by-step instructions. There's no DHCP that is handled by the router. only DNS . I promoted the new DC and transferred all the roles. I forgot to uncheck the global catalog and then I decommission the old DC. Once I did that my DNS stopped working I could not figure it out what was going on. I would like to make sure that my DNS is pointing to my correct DC. So that my other workstations will work correctly.
