Help us with our SEO strategy for a new online business in Australia

We are a new online business in Australia with an existing website built using WIx. We are in the process of getting all our stock and require assistance with our Search Engine Optimisation. We sell across multiple industries (health, fitness, medical, aged care, equine, etc.) with multiple key words so we are looking for someone to provide some initial guidance then develop and agree on a short term strategy then implement that strategy. If we are happy with the work I would be looking to continue this business relationship to increase the scope of work as we expand the business into other countries.
We could easily work with a local ad agency and in-fact have engaged one already but we are simply not ready to spend the kind of money they are suggesting. We need to do this on a small budget initially, but as we see some returns in our investment we will continue to invest further. As I said this has longer term potential for the right person.
Additionally I would be looking to get help and suggestion to improve the website and visitor experience which we can discuss further offline.
