iOS 9 integration for running application + Push Notifications implementation on Server Side (Ruby on Rails + Sinatra)

We need a programmer to work with our existing iOS development team to make;
- Necessary changes both to [url removed, login to view] and the swift code for the iOS 9 integration of a running application. (Especially knowledge in the new requirement of Apple - App Transportation Security)
- The current Alamofire library and request calls should also be updated to the newest version.
- Implementation of Push Notifications to the server and the iOS code.
REST API call on an already functioning server written in Ruby with the Sinatra web framework. Support is needed for Push Notifications. Ideally this would work for both Android and iOS. Ideally, Google Cloud Messaging was believed to be used to accomplish this so that it’d work on both iOS and Android.
Right now there is a REST API call “/addf” which takes certain information. Ideally via database additions, or parameters of the API call, one could “add a friend” and that friend would receive a push notification if that someone has added them. As we don’t know the ins and outs of push notifications we are open to other formats for how this could work or should work, but this was an idea of how it could work.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The iOS app is already built and working as well as the Ruby server written in Sinatra. This functionalities and updates has to be added onto a current build without breaking current functionality and in a quick timeframe.
- All the work is going to be done on our development computers with the supervision of our iOS developers.
