_**What I have**:_

I have a textfile with about 50,000 entries. One line is one set of data. I have to insert it into an oracle db table.

**_Example:_**

start

20050101000777779999999900800

20050702000777779999999900815

end

The structure is quite simple.

20070702-00077777-9999-9999-00800

date-number1-number2-number3-number4 (!! 00800 are 8.00 (decimal 3,2) )

_**What I need:**

_

- Upload the file to the server (what if the file exceeds the standard 2MB limit of php?)

- I will need a check if everything is ok with the file.

- Find out what is “start?? and what is “end??

- put every set of data in a table according to the structure (date, number1, number2, number3, number4)

- transactional security (maybe a commit after x entries, if one block fails delete the old blocks)

**The important part:

**- During the import I have to avoid the timeout of PHP!!!

- The person in front of the screen needs a feedback that the machine is working. _My idea is that the server “pushs?? a comment to the browser every X datasets. No javascripts or something like this, the browser should maintain a connection to the server during the job._

**_Example:_**

- starting

- 1,500 entires are in the db no errors

- 3,000 entires are in the db no errors

- end 34,057 entries

- If the procedure fails at some point the user needs a comment and a rollback

- You should count the entries in the txt file and compare it with the db entries.

I can provide you with the txt file.

Thank you in advance!

Arndt
