Need help to get VirtueMart working properly on my Joomla site

I have a popular Joomla-based CMS web site. VirtueMart is used for shopping cart, and payments are accepted via credit card or PayPal.
It is not working efficiently:
1. Registered users CAN make purchases but are put off by continual security warnings on all SSL pages
2. Guests cannot purchase. They can select items to purchase but can only get as far as the checkout where they are asked to complete their details before being bumped back to the home page
The issue is likely to be an incompatiblity between Community Builder, Account Expiration Control and VirtueMart.
Prospective coders should be very familiar with Joomla and the above components and preferably have dealt with similar issues previously.

I would like this VirtueMart issue resolved so that all users can easily purchase items from my online store? - logged in users and guests.
