MySQL Ubuntu Config Error

I need someone to configure my Ubuntu Linux box with MySQL.

I require someone to re-install and configure MySQL on this box to work with the data directory I provide. You will need to dial in to the machine using linux remote access.

I need someone to configure my Ubuntu Linux box with MySQL. I have tried several times with no success. Issue is possibly related to security, apparmour, or MYSQL in general. I am uncertain what the problem is. When I install MySQL it works fine, after I change the data directory location and the settings in [url removed, login to view] the system removes the /var/run/mysqld directory containing the socket files and does not replace them which then causes a socket error.
