Hi, I am looking for a php wizard to make modifications and fixes to existing scripts for a Web-based service.
The service’s sole function consists in monitoring a user’s set of Web pages for content changes. It sends to the user a daily message that combines content changes found on disparate Web pages. Content is converted to plaintext only, with links kept intact. And again, new contents from disparate pages are combined into a single email. I've attached a pdf file with a sample email delivery that constitutes the output of this Web service ("qb sample [login to view URL]").
The service is already functional, but needs some tweaks and small fixes. The original developer is still involved but his availability is reduced.
The project would initially involve approx. 10 hours of work and the following 3 tasks:
- Familiarizing yourself with code (3 hours)
- Fixing the part of the code that performs the diff operation on monitored Web pages. Currently there is a problem with old content being erroneously included in email deliveries (“old content problem”); there also is a problem with some email deliveries suddenly stopping – (5 hours)
- Migrating the scripts to a new URL on the server (2 hours)
The system uses PHP 5.3.2, MYSQL 5, TimezoneDB (Recent version), PCRE 8+, mcrypt 2.5.7, xdiff 1.5, tidy 2.0, apc 3.1.4, curl. It's hosted on a VPS at vps.net.
I’ve attached one of the main scripts, "[login to view URL]," so you can get a sense of the scope of fixing the “old content problem.” Specifically detect_change() and detect_change_html_purifier() and related functions are being called.
I’ve also attached a sample email delivery showing how new content from disparate Web pages is combined into a single page ("qb sample [login to view URL]").
For this project, I’m looking for a 5-10 day turnaround.
