For Your Cause Corp serves cause-related and charitable organizations. Our goal is to provide a multi-faceted set of online and offline services to assist these organizations raise money, to better communicate with their support base and to assist with offline activities.
• ForYourCause(dot)com is the company's web site. The web site offers multiple services for a cause-organization to raise money and to communicate with supporters. First, through our online shopping mall. Supporters of an organization can shop from over 1300 stores. When a purchase is made a percentage (%) of the purchase price is given back to the organization. Second, the web site offers two ways to allow users to utilize the site from which advertising revenue is earned. As with the shopping mall, a portion of the advertising revenue is given back to the organization which is tabulated by taking the total advertising revenue generated by every user that is tracked to a specific cause. Advertising revenue is generated by a user clicking through an advertisement. Advertising impressions get generated when users view pages on the site. Specifically most of the advertising impressions generated come from users utilizing the portal and social network areas of ForYourCause.com. The portal consists of widgets that users can find on websites like Yahoo, MSN and Google and include: search, weather forecasts, horoscopes, maps, driving directions and news dedicated to World, Sports, Finance and Entertainment.
• Goals of the Business, are divided into two parts.
• First, to assist cause-organizations to raise money in the face of ever growing competition for traditional donations by creating a platform that allows these organizations to tap into their current user base. Further, to communicate the complete package of benefits to the general public and potential cause-organization clients that For Your Cause can offer.
• Second, to create a compelling experience for users on the Internet. To allow users to help their cause and at the same time have the same functionality they would by using equivalent web sites that offer search, news, horoscopes, weather forecasts, map and driving direction widgets and a shopping mall.
• Web Site Goals:
⁃ To have a clean, tight and look and feel.
⁃ Look and Layout can be best explained as a combination between the navigation of the main page of Yahoo and the simplistic layout of Facebook
⁃ To clearly state the important areas of the web site
⁃ Shopping Mall Area
⁃ Control Area; includes inbox, outbox, Pictures, Old Mail, Saved Mail
⁃ Place online ads in 2 areas. Areas that get the best response rates
⁃ Prominent area for main widgets; weather forecast images, link to horoscope, search bar powered by yahoo, links to news (Financial, World, Sports, Entertainment)
⁃ Clear concise statement in prominent area about what the site is about.
⁃ To allow effective communication between our clients;I.e.; the cause-organization and their constituent base
⁃ To be easy to navigate
⁃ To have information such as about us, contact us, FAQ, policies, etc to be easy to find by a user
⁃ To prominently post information about how users can make the site their home page on their computer.
• Project Scope: The scope of this project is to create a single template page that is to include the information as described above. The page needs to be inviting, clean, tight, but to be graphically pleasing. We will use this single webpage to scale to the other sections of the site.
