Need 100 Articles written with a heavier focus on the technology categories to meet the following criteria:

Here at The Da Vinci Workshop we are dedicated to providing resources to the hobbyist or professional that enjoys the challenge of modifying the world around them through the manipulation of several different mediums including, but not limited to, wood, clay, metal, electronics, plastics, paper, art, chemistry, fabrics, programming, etc… These individuals go by several names, hackers, crafters, and DIYers are to name a few but the most common agreed upon name is “makers”.

In support of the maker community we are looking for the submission of unique, well written articles that spark the imagination, ignite creativity, and inspire those who read it to tweak, hack, make, or bend the world around them. Your articles should be written in the style of a How To, a Story, a Knowledge Enhancer, or a Review. The subjects of focus should land in one or span multiples of the following categories:

• Technology: circuit boards (i.e. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Wandboard, etc…), robotics, computers & mobile devices, remote monitoring/management devices, and wearable tech

• Computer Aided Fabrication: 3D printing, 3D scanning, CNC & machining, and CAD

• Crafts and Design: art & sculpture, paper & other crafts, costumes & makup, music & Instruments, yarncraft & needlecraft, and photography & video

• Drones & Transportation: bikes, cars, planes, drones, rockets, and unique transport

• Science: energy & sustainability, biohacking, chemistry, and space

• Workshop: wood working and metal working

• At Home: home automation, connected home, food & beverage, fun & games, lighting & furniture, and gardening

Things you should and should not do if you want your article to be published on The Da Vinci Workshop:

You Should:

• Submit your very best work.

• Have a minimum of 200 words. (Please see the section “What is a Review” below for the exception)

• Shoot landscape-oriented photographs that are a minimum of 1200px wide. The higher the quality the better.

• Use consistent language and be precise in your writing. Use smaller words in the place of larger words when available.

• Use correct terms for materials, components, and processes. If you are unsure what the proper name for something is, please look it up.

• Define your directions and areas carefully and consistently throughout your article. (i.e. top, bottom, right end, left edge, etc.)

You Should Not:

• Plagiarize or submit work that does not belong to you. This includes, without exception, all visual assets. Do not provide assets of which you do not have the rights (public domain, open source, and your personal intellectual property are all allowed).

• Submit content that is of a pornographic, violent, or hateful nature.

• Use this to advertise a product. Articles that show a use/application for a commercial product are fine.

• Include affiliate/referral links in your article.

What is a How to?

A How To provides the reader a set of step-by-step instructions and photographs of a specific project, including a list of tools and materials that others can use to reproduce the project based on the documentation you have provided. The greater the documentation you can provide the reader in your How To, the better.

When writing for The Da Vinci Workshop please keep the following in mind: You are essentially teaching the reader. Think of your reader as an equally intelligent person, that just doesn’t necessarily know everything you know. With that in mind, try to anticipate the questions your reader might have about your How To. It may help to think back to the questions you had when you were first working on your project. Explain everything they will need to know in order to recreate what you are writing about, and do so in an easy-to-read manner, as if you were having a casual conversation with your reader. Describe the difficulties you encountered, the solutions you discovered, and suggest alternative workarounds.

If you have something unique you have built or created, an interesting modification, hack or tweak to something, and want to show other people how to reproduce it, we would love to publish it. (Please note: We are interested in hearing about things you have already made, not things you are just thinking about making.)

If your How To contains sections that are better explained via media other than standard text and photos, that will not be a problem. We can point to PDFs, code, software, audio, video, photos, etc.

What is a Story?

Think “show & tell”. If you have built a project that you want to share, but you do not quite have sufficient documentation, you can showcase it as a Story instead of a step-by-step How To. Additionally, we want to hear about your build journeys. The trials and tribulations, the failures, and the hilarities. Tell us about your series of failed attempts to build your drone before you finally got it right. Tell us what you learned from launching that weather balloon into the upper atmosphere. Tell us about the time you downloaded the schematics of your favorite SciFi spacecraft and built a scale model of it. What is the strangest thing you have made? If it’s surprising, funny, or unique we will publish it on the site. This is also the platform to use for non-project related things. Let us be a sounding board for your calls for participation and event announcements!

What is a Knowledge Enhancer?

Knowledge Enhancers are crash course introductions about a specific skill or set of skills. These are written by experienced makers for aspiring DIYers who have little to no experience with a given skill. If you are an expert on something and feel you can properly address all the intricacies and pro tips, please consider sharing your knowledge with our readers in the form of a Knowledge Enhancer.

What is a Review?

Reviews should be between 50 and 250 words, and should be written in first person. In writing your review, rather than thinking of it as a “review” think of it more like a recommendation based on your own experience. If you have a piece of equipment , a gadget, a tool you love or maybe you have a website, newsletter, instructional video, book, or magazine you cannot live without, we want to know all about it. (Please note: We are looking to hear or learn about your personal involvement with the item you are reviewing. Reiterating something you have read about or heard about is not what we are looking for.)
