Abstract
A Joomla extension is to be developed. The main concept of the web application is to let users create obituaries. Other users shall be able to search for these entries. The development shall comprise a component for the main work and modules, which we can place in available template slots.
The users groups are divided in three parties: Funeral homes, page visitors, web site owners. The funeral home employees create entries in the database. The page visitors search for the entries. The web site owners create the obituaries based on the information, which was entered by the funeral homes.

Create entry
After a relative has passed away, the relatives want to create an obituary online. The relatives will not create the obituary themselves but go to a funeral home and describes wishes. The funeral home has an account at our page and logs in. The employee of the funeral home creates a new entry and selects a design from a predefined list of graphics. Additionally some information related to the client is entered. After saving the information, the application triggers a notification email to the web site owner.
Administrate entry
For handling changes and cancellations, the funeral home employee logs in to the web site. The employee will see a list of all entries that have been created earlier by the same funeral home. The entries are, dependent on their status, be changed or canceled. Also, once the obituary is manually created, uploaded and referenced to the entry by the web site’s owners back office, the funeral home’s employee can view the entry. Once the entry has been created and fulfilled, the entry is not editable anymore.
Visitors
A visitor calls up the page and will be presented with a slide show of the last obituaries that have been uploaded. For searching for specific person, the visitor can enter specific data that leads to a proper search result.
Clicking either in the slide show or in the search result on an obituary will show a more detailed view with a large picture of the obituary.
Detailed requirements
The basis for the development has to be Joomla 3.
Currently the solution proposal foresees the development of a Joomla component and modules. This is subject to discussion. The development can also consist of modules only. In general, a frontend and backend part is required.
The source code will not be obfuscated and fully available to us. The source code will not be reused for other projects and will not be sold to other companies or individuals and is solely owned by us including all rights. Documentation is requested to be inline in the coding.
