Hello game design specialists, we're looking for someone who is able to design a simple 2d game with a nice and smooth scenario according to the reference provided.

The general idea is to promote us as a music production and composition company who are able to compose and produce non-linear music based on layers which are triggered by random events in games and to show how the music progresses and changes to these.

As Flash (swf) doesn't work on iDevices and is a dying format anyways, we'd prefer to have the game implemented in HTML5 format or other solutions. Be reminded that the game has to be running smoothly. A pure software solution which works on mac and pc would be also nice.

The game can be very simple in terms of triggers and storyboard but has to be graphically and visually very pleasing whilst allowing enough space to showcase the music that we provide. An intelligent and creative or 'arty' backdrop would be appreciated. Please do not apply if your character and scenario design capacities don't exceed the creation of a 'stickman'. As we'd like to present the game and its music to the game developing industry, a certain level of visual quality should be approached.

The game can be 2d or advanced 2d (depth) and the controls could be easily consisting of cursor left/right for moving back and forth, maybe a key to attack/move/push/handle. Very important is that there should be a number of events that could more or less randomly happen to show off different stages of the music such as dramatic/alerted/fight/calm/lovely/sunny/standard and also a pause menu.

There could also be a part where an obstacle like a fortified or haunted place appears, and the avatar (automatically) starts sneaking around or alongside it to prevent being attacked or seen. Events like these don't mandatorily have to be triggered by pushing a key but simply by advancing the avatar forward through the scenario and can happen randomly. This, as the other events, would trigger a 'sneaky' or 'secretive' layer in the music.

Just an idea: The clothes/disguise of the avatar could probably change with the event, so that music and disguise fit.

It'd be also nice if the avatar could die or something less dramatic but which means a 'game over' status.

The music layers will be provided when actual game developing has started.

As you should be a game designer, this concept gives you the basic frame in which we'd like to let your creativity free.

Please see the attached pdf as a general set-up for events and story.

As a scenario and visual reference serve:

the animated feature film 'number 9' by Tim Burton, which has a cute and harmless basic setting but takes place in a dark and threatening surrounding (link to the trailer [url removed, login to view])

Other visual references could be Borderland 2 ([url removed, login to view]) or the darker parts of games such as little big planet ([url removed, login to view])

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please make sure that your work respects existing copyrights and doesn't break any rules and laws.
