Contest Brief

I've got a single client that wants to start a website to sell web design service. It may sound ironic on so many levels that a company that wants to sell web design service needs web design help for it's own website. Well, ironic or not, it's a real life scenario. I have got the domain (http://www.houstonwebsites.us) for them, installed WordPress, and even installed the theme (http://nexon.ozythemes.com) they liked.

Now, here are the tasks...

To qualify for review, you need to complete this website as if it's your own. Which means that you'll need to create the content, logo, all graphics included, and design the content for the homepage, Website Design Page, Graphic Design Page, Branding Page, and Contact Page. The idea is to make sure that the website is attractive, yet simple enough for the most simple folks to understand.

The candidate with the best work will win. But the winner, and runner up both, will be selected for on-going work that the company gets in the future. So there is definitely a potential for more money, more work. If you like a list of the work that the company has done in the past, simply message me, and I'll send you a small list which you can use to create a small portfolio. Also, the winner will also be reimbursed for the theme purchase. Last, if you don't want to purchase this particular theme, but can still give exactly or similar looks to your WordPress, I urge you to give it a shot.

That's quite a lot of work for 300$ (-45$ for the theme...ouch)... Honestly, I don't see this as an opportunity. I they pay like this, in the future the winner will probably work similar huge amounts for similar money...sounds not so good. No offense, but, they sound not serious at all. I believe that's just another lame strategy to get the website for the lowest amount possible. I will maybe participate in this contest, but more out of pity for your client (and you, the contest holder, for failing to enlighten them with the basics of investment in their own company). Do you think you will get high quality "content, logo, all graphics included, and design the content for the homepage, Website Design Page, Graphic Design Page, Branding Page, and Contact Page"? ... yeah, I thought so.

  No Worries BB1, I've raised the amount. Also, the theme itself is really pretty good. There are only a handful of pages. And any graphics work that maybe required would only to make the portfolio look better. Then there is the logo, which may or may not take too much time, but that depends on the designer. That's pretty much about it.

this should not be contest, you choose a best one and give it, becuase for this much big work, wasting every others time is not a good idea , i think so, the work is not a big deal, so you can guide and get the task from one best person, rather you deal with all others and make them all work and choose one finally, I think so

  Hi Rinosh, What you said makes sense. But this is the work we have in front of us. In these dire times, I try to scrap any work I can. Maybe you're better off than I am. However, my view is that we should evaluate what projects are profitable and which aren't. And then give our 110% on the ones that are. I like your submission attempt. If you have any other, do show me, let's see if we can find a way to work together.
