I am looking to develop a Licence Plate Recognition system for highway use. The purpose of the system is to be used for traffic monitoring. To best meet this need, I am seeking a combination of both hardware and software-based solutions. The hardware-based element would include cameras placed at strategic points along the side of the highway that are capable of capturing the licence plates of cars driving by. The software portion of the system would process the images from the cameras and be able to identify the licence plate numbers from each picture.
