The company will be a bikeshare system based in South Africa and will require a mobile application as the primary interaction between company and customer. As a first port of call, please see this link below to understand the look and feel of what I would want for the app: [login to view URL] in terms of requirements for the app: Project flow The application is used to hire bike on rent from different bike stations. The process followed in the application by the user is described below: ● Registration: The user first registers to the app with their email and mobile number. There is mobile number verification on registration via OTP – can also be done via email. ● Subscription Plan: There are a subscription plans for the user, they have to buy a plan to move further. User can also choose free plan. A plan can be updated later from the app. ● Find Station: The nearest station of bikes are shown to the users in google map. ● Find Bike: After reaching to the station user can see the images for available bikes in their app with lock on it. The images and lock status of bikes will be shown in the application through a Bluetooth device mounted on the bike stand. ● Unlock Bike: User can unlock the bike by their app. There will be authentication process through PIN and user can get this PIN from admin. ● Rentals: The rental history and active rentals can be accessed from user account. ● User Account: User can update their personal detail and change their mobile number. To change the mobile number user have to follow verification process. The functionality for the admin is discussed below: ● User Tracking: Admin gets real-time information on the station and state of bicycles. ● User Authentication: Admin will do authorization on system access and plan purchasing for the user. ● Station Setup: Admin can view the details for all the stations, also set their working hours and locations. ● Analytics: As mentioned in the website, admin also get analytics and visualization of key metrics to help manage and grow the system. ● Subscription Plans: Admin can customizable plans that allow free rentals, free time, selective access, and other methods. Some open questions you may consider: ● Does user have to give the rent on completing the ride or on start of the ride or it is only depend upon subscription plan? How to define hours if the payment has done at start of the ride, does user give half of the amount at ride start? Credit card information to be supplied prior to any rental. This will mean app will have to utilise a suggested vendor for this purpose. Plans needs flexibility. Eg monthly for R10, Yearly for R20. These will be for maximum 15 minute trips. If you exceed this then pro-rata billing on a per minute basis. Also option for flat pro-rata billing. Down the line we would also like to incorporate more dynamic pricing like surge and dip pricing, usage based pricing etc. this is not priority for now. ● What is the process to unlock a bike, should it redirect to payment gateway to get the PIN for unlock it or simply it is a handshaking process between admin and user? Select bike number, pin gets sent to you in-app, you unlock and ride. Charging starts from point of pin being sent to you to point of bike return. ● Can a user take more than one bike on rent at same time? This would be a good option. Depends on costs to do this ● Does the user get tracked when they are with bike? We will track them yes. Ideal if this is all done on the same platform. We have workarounds if not utilising gps trackers and other systems ● How to return a bike in the station, will the bike be locked by the user or this is a manual process? Working towards automatic process. Depends on costs. ● Can user search for a station on google map? Does google map also show directions to reach the station? Stations will be listed on the map in the app + number of bikes at each station ● Can user logout from the app? Is there any login process? Yes. Very much like uber Admin Panel ● Can admin add the stations for bikes and manage them? yes ● What types of analytics and graphs are present in admin side? As we grow in scale, information will be crucial to optimising the fleet. Would like to be able to add functionality. Eg. We may want to work out what area has the highest density of rides per hour. Or per user, which are the most frequented stations that we could target with promotions etc. Priority 1 is making sure the app works. Priority 2 is harnessing enormous data potential for usage.
