This project is practically begging for me to write it! Your job consists of two skills I happen to have been honing for years: writing creative fiction and newspaper articles.
I began my newspaper career stringing sports for my hometown newspaper. I moved off to college and went to work for their newspaper, The Pine Log, for two years, moving up from a staff writer to Opinions and Entertainment Editor. In my time at the Pine Log, I was awarded first place in the state for Critical Review at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association's yearly competition. On the creative side, my short story was accepted for publication at "Humid," my school's literary journal, an accomplishment I'm proud of to this day.
Now, after graduating, I'm making a living with my words, serving as the Community Editor for the Allen American. In this position, I'm responsible for reporting on news, business, crime and human interest stories in the city of Allen, TX, a suburb north of Dallas with a 90,000+ population. I was hired three months after graduating and am working there presently.
I hope my qualifications show that I am well-suited to this job. This is only the second project that I've bid on, having just heard of this website from my current employer. I hope my relative inexperience in freelancing does not discourage you; I can assure you that I would do well on your project.
I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Warmest regards,
Garrett Cook
