I am working on a data visualization website for a local museum here in Key west. I am looking to have a website produced that will show on a map the fires that have happened in Key West Florida over time. I have the data going back to the 1800's. What I need is a website that uses the google maps api (or some other geo location option) to pinpoint icons where fires have happened. This map will have controls where the internet user can select a date range and see all of the fires from 1850 - 1860 for instance. This fires will be represented by icons on the map (3 different sized icons to show the size of the fire). As a user rolls over an icon on the map, a pop up window will show data about that particular fire. Address, date, size of fire, amount of damage, kind of fire etc. The background image will change as the year range changes (as key west has grown bigger over the years) I have older maps we will use for the background which we will line up to the modern day streets that Google has in their system. I also need a search function that allows a user to put in an address and see if there have ever been a fire at that address. I also need some kind of simple back-end database entry system so as new information is uncovered it can be added to the database. In addition, several pages will need to be created showing major fires that have happened in Key West over the years. As part of this project, we will need to develop a logo and a look/feel to the site. And finally, the site needs to be accessible to mobile devices (think scrollable using an iPad with pinch to zoom etc)
