SEO and migration advice for small, static website

We've redesigned our simple website and moved in to a completely new domain. Its a very basic, static website. The old site has about 5 pages worth of content. The new site only has about 7 pages worth of content. I plan on taking down all content from the pages of the old site and replacing it with large links to the new site. I cannot automatically redirect users from the old site because I need to maintain certain material. I need the following: 1. An explanation of how to best forward the search engine bots but NOT the users from the existing site to the new site. This existing site is ranked #2 in organic search results for several keywords. At the least, I would like to maintain this ranking with the new site. 2. An explanation of how to load html and php pages by using folder-like URL (example [login to view URL] loads [login to view URL] file in main httpdocs directory of website) 3. SEO for the new site. Of course, #3 is most critical. Much of this project deals with explaning things to me about how I should optimize the website for SEO. English communication skills must be solid.
