Hello I'd like to ask (the first thought that came to my mind looking at the camera you've shown) Would a camera quality like iPhone work for you? Because that's what I'd use and read it on a micro controller, and transmit it live time to a PC Screen if you say. Perhaps not the exact same camera but the idea is, using any easily available camera of the same family, that we're sure we'd find later on for our production runs as well.

The most effective solution to this project is by engaging manufacturers already making similar products in China. This will cut cost and time to market. However, to do this you ll need someone with skills, contacts, experience, and cultural background to avoid the pitfalls inherited with dealing with Chinese suppliers.
