We are looking for a developer to help us move our Apple "Staff Pick" Web Application, currently listed as U.S. Congressional Directory (([login to view URL]) to the Apple Application Store.
The new service will be called Congress In Your Pocket, currently available to the public at [login to view URL] and free to all registered users. The site currently offers information about members of Congress, their staffs, and their campaigns, that are sold generally through printed media. While in public Beta, we've allowed them to the more time-sensitive versions of the site (staff and political updates), which will change after it is closed.
Due to user feedback, we've been convinced that our service would perform better if it were native. Right now you cannot access the directory if you do not have a WiFi, Edge, or 3G signal. For iPhone users, moving it to a native application will allow the user to update the directory when they have a signal. When the user does not have access, he or she could still use the directory based on the most recent downloadable update.
The winning developer will be able to help translate what we have and submit it to Apple. We would also like to add the ability for users to register and pay with PayPal for the Web App as a yearly subscription. Our application will be particularly helpful to those in the Washington DC area with Blackberries and we have a web application working for that as well.
## Deliverables
The native application needs to duplicate all functionality from the web application:
1. Login/Logout
2. Search by State
3. About page which includes an email link to submit general feedback, and links to our main website, blog, and partners in the EU.
Incorporate all live listings and links from our database:
1. Member's name, picture, job title, state, district, and party affiliation.
2. Contact Information
3. Capitol Staff (restricted to paid subscribers)
4. Campaign Information (restricted to paid subscribers)
5. Official Biography
In addition, the native application should perform smoothly and quickly and have the ability to update the internal database when the user wants it.
We would appreciate feasibility and pricing on the following enhancements open to paid subscribers:
1. A more robust search, which could include member name, party affiliation, staff name, and campaign information.
2. A tappable A-Z alphabet on the right side.
3. UI enhancements such as color, font size, navigation links on the bottom with icons.
