I need an uploader embedded into a webpage on my website (which I built with iweb) so that users can upload large audio files to my server . Every commercial product I have tried has not only crashed iweb but also webpages I have created using html via Aquamacs. The file sizes I work with are up to 2G and most likely .wav, .txt and .doc files. I am currently avoiding ftp but am only starting out so who knows? I don't care if it is drag and drop or just a browse box as long as it works. Preferably I would like the uploader to send files directly to an external hard drive connected to my server (imac).

I've done work like this before. The 2 GB file size could be a bit of problem as it'll cause a long upload time. Even using something like FTP or Java sockets, most consumers have low upload speed times. However, this doesn't mean it isn't possible. Anyway, would be happy to work with you! :)
