Comparison Algorithm Development

About Us: We are a tech start-up in the ecommerce sector looking to hire a programmer/web developer. You will be working in conjunction with a team of 2-4 other programmers, and will work on specific and general aspects of the program design as needed. What We Need: We need an algorithm designed that will take several values from e-commerce websites and combine them. We then need a series of computations to be performed as quickly as possible. More details can be provided once you inquire about the position. Requirements: ? Solid, professional experience in PHP (with MVC frameworks such as CodeIgniter, Symfony2, etc.) or Ruby (Rails) and relational database (ideally MySQL and/or PostgreSQL), developing highly-scalable Web applications ? 2+ years of analytics, data mining, predictive/mathematical modeling experience ? Proficiency with common languages used in statistical analysis (R, Python, etc.) ? Proficiency in OO programming (C, C++, etc.) ? An excellent understanding of object-oriented programming and software design patterns ? Linux-based development and administration knowledge ? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills ? Experience writing and optimizing algorithms Desired, but NOT Required: ? A complementary set of front-end skills (JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, etc.) ? Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.) ? Enthusiasm for Agile processes (Scrum, Kanban, TDD, XP, etc.) ? Familiarity with version control systems (SVN, Git, etc.) ? Dedication to unit testing, code review, and other quality-oriented practices ? Experience with data visualization and GPU computation ? Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
