378752 Ubuntu Network Troubleshooti 2

I am trying to get ubuntu server 8.04 working over VMWare 2 on my Windows 7 64-bit box. I am using a verizon wireless broadband card for my internet. I can't seem to get the internet to work correctly, I can ping but I can't run aptitude update. I also installed Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 on another virtual machine and have the same problems, I can ping but I can't browse the web using firefox, or get packages via aptitude or synaptic. I am looking for a linux guru to use cross-loops: [login to view URL] and access my machine and fix my problem. Thanks!
