Dos needs to send print job to a specific printer drawer

We have a good old dos accounting and inventory program that works but its designed to print to 3 separate printers via LPT ports. The program sends print jobs directly to the printer port and can’t be directed to a specific printer drawer. This has now become a problem. How it works now. LPT1 = Receipts……These receipts are preprinted with company info on letterhead 8.5??x11?? LPT2 = Contracts…..These contracts use different preprinted letterhead 8.5??x11?? LPT3 = Labels……..These go to a dot-matrix printer. This will not change. We had to replace the printers used for LPT1 and LPT2 so we bought an HP 4200tn laser printer with 3 print drawers. Drawer one is the manual feed and is not used. Drawer 2 we want to use for receipts ONLY. Drawer 3 then would be for all other print jobs sent to that printer, meaning Contracts. Drawer 3 is the default printer drawer for this printer. Only one workstation prints receipts and that is the only one that will be affected by any changes. The only change needed to the program is a one time permanent change that says Receipts should print to drawer 2. If you can make this happen without affecting any other function of the dos program the job will be considered complete. I don't know which is simpler, to make the Dos program use the windows drivers or just tell it to print receipts to drawer 2. Here are some details of the office configuration. There are 4 workstations connected to the server hosting the program and they map to it via a network drive. Only one of the workstations prints Receipts and its LPT1 cable is directly plugged into the HP 4200tn printer and is also used to send a signal to the cash drawer to open it. The other workstations only send Contracts to be printed via LPT2 that is mapped to print over the network to the LAN card in the HP 4200tn which now automatically prints to Drawer 3 and that is fine. ## Deliverables 1) Send Receipts to drawer 2 of the HP 4200tn while all other jobs default to Drawer 3 of the same printer. 2) Other workstations on the network that print Contracts to the HP 4200tn via the installed network card will still have those jobs printout on drawer 3 as they do now. 3) After the modifications the program still functions normally in all other ways. 4) Though you will receive a copy of the program you will need to instruct me how to update the code so as to not loose the data already in the program. ## Platform DOS program running on win98 and NT4.0 workstations.
