Charactell is an ICR/OCR engine that will read text from an image. You can create a session and assign zones to that session. The zones are regions where text should exist so Charactell will OCR text from the zones and return the results. I have the software to a point where it will tell me what type of image I gave it by matching the image to a template. However, I don't understand how to read the defined zones from the image and get the results. I can only get an OCR read for the entire image. The sample code provided was written in VB6 and was converted to VB.NET using the VS2005 converter. The VB.NET sample works, but this line: rc = JWZoneCreate(hSession, hZone, hImage, 0, 0, 0, 0) ' one zone for the whole page found in [login to view URL] does not use the zones from the template, instead it is a single zone that reads all the text from the entire document. This might end up being very simple resolve, I am not sure. Also, if you are good with Delphi there are quite a few sample programs written for Delphi, but I don't have the IDE so I don't have a way to take a look at them. If you have an understanding of that language you will probably be able to find a working example that uses zones and use that code as a template in the VB.NET app.
I will provide any support needed to assist you in understanding what I know.

## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, that will allow me to see a working example of the Charactell OCR engine using [login to view URL] along with a template's associated rgn file to dynamically capture data from the zoned regions on a document and display that data. The data can either be displayed on the form, or in a simple message box. This functionality should be added to the "Recognize Form" button in the ManualAndSampleSource\[login to view URL]\[login to view URL] VB.NET project included with the attached zip. You will know it is working when you are able to load the form: [login to view URL]\[login to view URL]\bin\forms\[login to view URL] The app tells you it matched the template: [login to view URL]\[login to view URL]\bin\Templates\[login to view URL] and you are able to get the sample program to use the zones specified in [login to view URL] to return the expected results.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
