Basic CSS to position text on a simple website

I have a plan html website that has 6 lines of text, on a plain white background. I want the 6 lines to appears in the bottom left hard corner. I'm using a bit of CSS from the web for the text formatting, but for the positioning I'm afraid I'm using <br> to move it down the page (sorry! :-) and this looks different in different browsers. In safari it shows in a good position but in firefox or IE it puts it almost top middle. I just need the (copied :-) CSS sorting out so the text appears bottom left.
