Generic Header/Footer/Left/Right/Main layout for Magento

I need a generic layout/template/theme whatever you call it in Magento for a 3-column layout: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SN7npPwoqNg/SQzCgJSMmJI/AAAAAAAAACM/y7WN8M0-5K0/s400/Three+[login to view URL] I can do the design via CSS but you have to set it up so that I will be able to simply edit a file(s) to enter in my own CSS for each section (header/footer/left/right/center). I would like the default width to be 100% for each section but allow me to control the width/height via a CSS class. Please stack each row in a separate div, for example: <div id="wrapper"> <div id="header">header</div> <div id="middle"> <div id="left">left</div> <div id="center">center</div> <div id="right">right</div> </div> <div id="footer">footer</div> </div> Something in that nature, refer to link I showed above as reference. I know Magento's templating system is a bit different so this is why I need a layout made to to resemble the above. I should be able to put my own <div> inside each of those section and design as accordingly as well as adding magento modules. Speaking of which, if you could insert sample content such as "shopping cart" "categories" just so I see the layout is easily modifiable.
