Point in Polygon project with PostgreSQL

Hi Tim, I do PostgreSQL/PostGIS for my Masther thesis. First need to instal PostGIS extension ([login to view URL]) for PostgreSQL database, because PostGIS provides spatial objects for the PostgreSQL database. Then you import SHP files using "Shape File to PostGIS importer". Need to be used SRID number 4326, because this SRIB number mark WGS84 projection ang Google Maps use WGS84 projection. Then you run ST_Intersects. ST_Intersects returns TRUE if the Geometries/Geography "spatially intersect in 2D" - (share any portion of space) and FALSE if they don't (they are Disjoint), for geography - tolerance is 0.00001 meters (so any points that close are considered to intersect). SQL code look something like this: SELECT ST_Intersects('POINT(0 0)'::geometry, 'LINESTRING ( 2 0, 0 2 )'::geometry); Please tell me what you think. Best, Darko

I'm GIS expert. I don't think there are any sql statement like what you described. I will use ArcGIS to do this job for you.

I have 7 years experience in PostgreSQL and Postgis. Importing KML is no problem because Postgis have ST_GeomFromKML function. In one of my projects I writed SQL which analyse point intersection with 600k poligons. I will do this work quick and quality.
