Due by 11:59 P.M., August 27, 2014. Research the history of the Texas Constitution and the Texas Constitution today. Write a three to four page, double-spaced essay on the Texas Constitution. Use at least four sources, and list these sources. Due September 11 by 11:59 P.M. Research the voting process. Examine the process from an historical perspective, telling how it has changed over the years. Then discuss the voting process today, explaining who votes and why and how the voting process both promotes and inhibits voter participation. Discuss voting in the United States as a whole and specifically in the state of Texas. Use at least four sources, and list those sources. This essay should be four to six pages long. Due September 25 by 11:59 P.M. Research the three branches of Texas government. Write a four to five page, double-spaced essay first explaining the three branches of government. Then discuss which branch you consider to be the most powerful and why. List sources. Due October 9, 11:59 P.M. Research financial problems of the Texas government. Explain what has created these problems and how some of the problems can be solved. Write a three to five page, double-spaced essay on this topic. Use at least four sources, and list sources. Due October 23, 11:59. Choose the three people that you consider to be the most powerful in the Texas political arena. Write a two to three page, double-spaced essay explaining who these people are and why you consider them the most influential. List sources. Due October 30, 11:59 P.M. Research the Texas court system. Explain the structure and jurisdiction of Texas courts. You may use your text as one source, but use at least three other sources. List sources. This essay should be three to five pages long. Due November 13. (This essay is written based on the previous essays) Work on a reflective essay on what you have learned in this course and why knowing about Texas government could be valuable in your future endeavors. This essay does not have to contain sources, but it should be well thought out and should be four to six pages in length. Due Dec 1.
