Hello and thank you for explaining the project so nicely. If awarded I plan to write a few macros to achieve the results as per your requirement. I hope the categories are spelt out correctly, and they follow a same structure. For example if one school reports a race as "800 m Relay" and another school reports it as "800 meter Relay" - then they are not uniformly written, and in these cases the matching shall get a bit difficult. But even then, I believe it what you require can be achieved lastly through macros. Yes different workbooks can be made on the fly as well, based on the categories.
