Algorithm to describe distribution curves

I have numerous sets of distribution curves (points assigned to candidates). I want an algorithm that will allow me to describe how the points are distributed--some examples: - The majority of points are assigned to one candidate (then tell me who). - The majority of points are assigned to a few candidates (then list it). - Points are roughly evenly distributed among all the candidates. - A few of the candidates hold a lot of points (list it) but the rest are roughly evenly distributed.
