This project is to create real 3D model (nor z-sorting issue at all) for lattice structure composed of straight members each connecting two defined nodes. The coordinates of nodes can be found in the sheet “Node” in the excel file named Info.xlsx. The connectivity of the members can be found at the sheet “Connectivity”: each member (Col_A) is defined by two nodes (Node_I in Col_B and Node_J in Col_C). The members are straight but they are not just line. They have different cross section – the shape of the cross section. The type of the cross section for each member is listed in Col_D. The shape of the cross section tells how the cross section looks like, its category, but it does not define the exact dimensions. The cross section shape defines the dimensions of cross section. Looking at the two figures for two cross section types and the data in columns from G to K, you will have all the dimensions to create a 3D model member of unit length to be used in the flash. Flash may have primitives for a pipe cross section, but for the angle, you may need to have collada or other 3D model.
The Node, Connectivity and cross section data file are all to be stored in mySQL database tables and retrieved to flash when needed. Also need to create several other unit length 3D models of different cross section shape and call to flash for structure building.
I have attached some pictures of the 3D model created in other software. Also, you have an avi file showing how the 3D model looks like. The 3D model should look like PICTURE Shape.png.
