We are looking to build a rational expression that will help us find mistyped search terms in our website search function. They site is in [url removed, login to view] but if you can build a series of rational expressions to solve the problem we will handle the [url removed, login to view] part.
Some of the words on our site us Italian names which have none English characters. We have to be able to find those works. Here are some of the mistake user make that we have to be able to right rational expressions or [url removed, login to view] code to solve for.
1) No accent mark:
Look for any non-English character and escapes it so that character will match any other.
When this a user searches on Universita we must fine Università
2) Space left out of two part surname:
If any of the below surname prefixes are entered at the beginning of a search term in the search tool box we have to add a space to see if that name exists in the database.
Another way to say it is. When a user searches on a word starting with "de" (without a space after it) give the results for that word and for the word with a space after the "de". Example entering DeAgostini gives results for DeAgostini and "De Agostini"

3) If the last character is not a alpha character (a-zA-Z) match works with the last letter scaped. example sant shoud fine find sant’. example Red should find Red!
4) LERMA should find L’Erma
Ignores all non-English characters like " or ! and assumes the user left them out. Did add them.
5) single special case. Searching on Gema will find Gemma.
Is a simple find and replace. user enters gema and your return gema and gemma. Please give an example of how to add more find-and-replace pairs so we can update the code as we find them.
