Hello Coders
I have 2 large mysql tables. Table A has 100,000 rows and Table B has 500,000 rows. *Some* of the data in Table B corresponds to the data in Table A. I need a script that will copy the data from Table B to Table A where there is a match. In otherwords, the script needs to resync the stats in Table B with the content rows in Table A.
Normally this wouldn't be aproblem, but due to the size of the tables I need the most efficient solution. This also needs to be a cron script so I can resync the 2 tables every few hours.
Please do NOT suggest a table join as this is not possible. Table B is updated too frequently (INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE) and will just lockup if accessed by the live site.
If you have an alternative suggestion you are welcome to suggest that. Here is the table structure:
**Table A**
The live website reads from this table. It includes static data (such as name, date added, owber etc.) and also dynamic data (such as number of downloads, last updated time etc.).
Name, Owner, String (unique), Added, Updated, Downloads, Links
**Table B
**This is where the statistics are stored. The cron script will transfer them from Table B into Table A where the unique string matches.
String (unique), Updated, Downloads, Links
If you need more info, please just ask.
