The first part of the job is very simple. The client already has two domains, and we require the moving of the entire blog of one to the other, and set up correct redirect as so not to be penalised by search engines.
Second part, the blog needs to be redesigned a little. Currently running on the Thesis theme on Wordpress, so handy if you are already conversant with the theme. If not, we can forgo the theme as long as the look remains.
The basic look for the site is here: [login to view URL]
The top is the same - Logo (to be advised) and 460x80 banner to the right of the screen. Nav bar in light blue colour, and we want the categories as follows: Home - Airports - Airlines - Aircraft - Duty-Free - Flights - Hotels - Car Hire - Contact
No drop down menu is required. For the first three nav links, we would like a link to a page which searches ONE particular category (and it's sub-categories) only in the Wordpress back-end like this: [login to view URL]
The Contact navlink is self-explanatory, but the last three are just iFrame insert from affiliate. We'll provide the code at the last minute so it all fits in.
Underneath search result we would like links for that search term applied to the other categories in case user searched under the wrong section (enter a search in the box to see it).
Main Content:
Would like to adopt a 2 column-layout with for the main blog, with the right-side being around 250px wide to allow for advertising.
Homepage:
We would like a new homepage layout: The main section would be the lead article, so we'd need a large thumbnail photo for this.
Underneath, we'd like 2 columns. There will be 4 widgets here, each showing the 'Latest posts' from 4 different categories. Thumbnails need to appear next to each post, with a generic one being displayed if no thumbnail is specified (thumbnails should also appear in the search results). Exceprt text needs to be used here (not grab from main article).
Smaller mods:
There are also some smaller mods needing to be done:
- Social sharing links appear at the top of the article under title including Google +1
- Font of post title to be changed (in line with house style of main logo)
You will need to go through a few iterations until the client is happy with the work, but the layout appears to be the main consideration here.
