flight booking script

In detial, I am needing to code a script that allows the user to enter their requested flight information (date, time, travelers info, travelling class, etc). Then searches the airlines or some database with the information for availability, price, carrier, and other detials and display it. I want to be able to allow the user to book the information on our site, BUT if that is not possible, have them directed to the airlines official website to book it. And of corse, it all needs to be completly valid. I dont need fake bookings. Our clients will be mostly from England and be flying to Spain for short holidays. So im needing some help to figure out where i need to start. Any resources anyone can provide that are relevent to this would be greatly appreciated. Also, what sort of coding would have to be considered here? I figure we are probably looking at some sort of Java style coding. Which I dont know and dont want to have to get into if I can do it in other ways such as PHP. Thanks for reading and I hope someone can help me out here.
