I have problem and it is rather random but when uploading photos in a group in jomsocial it changes the public_html folder permissions from 755 to 777 and then wipes out the entire site because of the permission change. If i manually set it back to 755 the site returns fine than a week or so later when a file is uploaded it does it again. While searching this on google it appears the photo functions need to change the permission to upload the file via http but does not change it back. This is a very serious issue as when it happens it take out the entire site until i manually set the folder permissions back to 755. Need this fixed. Not sure what is happening.
