You said that this thing cannot be parsed using regular methods just because you it is an extension, but you are very wrong my friend. I don't know what you meant by "regular methods" but I can for sure write a standalone script that will simulate browser and an extension usage, without opening the chrome. what you are asking is not browser automation it is essentially GUI automation which works either based on X,Y co-ordinates or recognizing a picture in desktop screen why not browser automation ? - because everything outside the html content the browser loads is outside browser automation. Can be done with Python/Java whatever you prefer. Let me know if you are interested.
