I would be happy to help with your academic writing, my specialty. Most recently I've been a developmental editor for an academic writer, working with him through several books and articles until his recent retirement. I assisted him with everything from project organization to editing and proofreading, as well as formatting to publisher specifications.
I am particularly adept at helping writers project their voice with clarity and effectiveness, while preserving their personal style. I am detail-oriented, reliable, and punctual. I have extensive experience writing and editing large and small projects. Here is a sample of an article I edited (shortened to fit here):
Where and When to Use Metaphors in Presentations
Metaphors can be used to evoke different responses and accelerate learning.
In the BEGINNING of the event, metaphors can be used to:
• Frame the topic and set the context for the interaction
• Capture and focus the audience’s attention
• Create rapport (responsiveness)
• Pace and lead the group into more resourceful states of mind
• Set the group’s perceptual filters for seeing in new ways
In the MIDDLE of an event, metaphors can be used to:
• Bridge from one topic to another
• Honor existing expertise
• Punctuate a key concept
At the END of an event, metaphors can be used to:
• Synthesize key learnings
• Reframe experiences
• Ground the event in purpose and relevance
