Get SSL working on my superwebsocket.net program

I have a vb.net program websocket (superwebsocket) program I have been putting together, this is really a personal program but I want to set it up so that It works across SSL. I can get it to work on ws, but when I try to connect to the server using SSL (and a certificate generated from the net) I get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED messages and it does not connect. The code is fine, but needs to be changed in the server startup to get it to work via SSL / tls. I have a certificate for my own domain I can provide if you can get it working on a self signed certificate. The second part to this project, is that I have a listbox on my form, which I want to be able to update to enter new items at the top of the listbox through a helper e.g. [login to view URL]("message goes here") this works fine if I call it from the main class, but if I call it through other classes within the project it does not update (even when using delegates and so on) so the second part would be for you to get these working. I think these two things would be an easy project for someone experience, but because I am not I am having a pain of a time getting it working. The program does use the MySQL ODBC connector, and I can provide you with database access if needed. All needs to be in vb.net
