I have just bought a new HP 1000-1309TU laptop, it has 2 GB of memory, but only 929 MB usable.
So I installed another 1GB stick, but it still shows 929 MB ?
And after booting into windows, there's only 200 MB left ! This is crazy
How do I fix it ?
I have been working with a team of excellent people providing many Windows Desktop troubleshooting services since the last 7 months. See the PM for more details.
I have taken a look at the specs for the laptop and it should be able to take 8gb on first glance. I suspect you are running into a windows "feature" that tries to cache the memory which can be turned off or explained quite easily. you place your faith in my bid we can get to the bottom of it.
I have been in the Windows / Technical Support industry for around 11.5 years now and although I specialise in networking now my skills are still used and current.

I have help many people with speed and memory issues with their windows computers. There are several steps that can greatly reduce the memory being used and speed up your RAM if you would like. Only a hour or two and I can tell you how to get your computer to full optimization without having to pay for programs.
