Hi, I host a number of Wordpress sites on a hosting provider called Media Temple ([login to view URL]).
I have upgraded from their basic Grid platform ([login to view URL])
to their faster dedicated server DV product.
Although I have a number of domains on the host, they have no content in them except for one: paulwilsongroup.com. This site isn't finished but does have significant content and is currently the last site on the grid platform - I've moved all of the others because they have no database connection.
[login to view URL] is online for you to view. It needs to be moved to the dedicated server and connected to the database before I switch the DNS, which I want to do asap.
Then I can close the grid service, remove the “new-“ from [login to view URL] and make the dedicated server live. There is currently a placeholder site ([login to view URL]) where the [login to view URL] site is to reside.
The DV product uses Plesk vsn 12 as the main software. While most is self-explanatory, for the life of me I cannot get the MySQL database to connect to the Wordpress files.
I have never had problems doing this for clients using MAMP on my Mac and then Backup Buddy ([login to view URL]) and CPanel on the Media Temple grid or another server, but the Plesk software is proving a challenge.
So my requirements are for someone to get the Wordpress site talking to the database. Backup Buddy doesn’t have to be used. I don’t care how you get them talking as long as the site works like it does at ([login to view URL]).
I can provide all the passwords required as well as additional migration material provided by Media Temple. There is also a detailed knowledge base at the host that can provide assistance.
I have a Backup Buddy copy of the site and database (zipped) – there is also of course the live copy on the grid server, along with the database that you have access to.
Please advise if you can help.
Thanks, Paul Wilson
