Contest Brief

Attached to this project specification is the PDF version of a book cover mock up I created in Word.

This is a very general idea as to what I am looking for.
The key elements I want are:
1. A unique, bold and colourful funnel on the front cover.
2. A large title in the Verdana font like you see on the mock up.

The funnel icon you see on the mock up cannot be used. It is not mine. It is copyrighted and I got it off Google images just to illustrate the kind of thing I visualise.

I am a marketeer so my main goal with this cover is to attract attention when the cover is presented as a thumbnail on sites like Amazon.
I am not wanting to win any design awards here.

I wondered whether the black / white colour scheme should be reversed i.e. white background with black text.
I also wondered whether the funnel icon should be left aligned and then the sub title 'how to use leverage...' right aligned.

In any case I think the background needs to come to life more. A solid colour just doesn't do it.

For this I'm thinking of creating some kind of opaque background with currency symbols slightly visible. By currency symbols I mean symbols of the major currencies like dollar, pound, euro and yen. This is to reflect the 'money' part of the books title 'money funnel marketing'.

There's also scope to be creative with the funnel icon itself by creating a single icon that visually represents 'money' and 'funnel' in one, perhaps by having money coming out the bottom of the funnel or something. I'll leave that up to you.

I also wondered whether something clever can be done with the 'M' of 'Money'.
If you look at the second attachment, you'll find a logo for 'Magna' which is a theme park in the UK. That's not important. The important element is how they have used the 'M'. You can see how the dip in the 'M' could almost represent a funnel since it contains a 'V' shape.

If you really want to impress me then conduct some research on Amazon. Look at the book cover for top selling marketing books and then look for common elements.

Also look at lots of other marketing book covers and create a design that stands out as unique among them.
If you decide to engage in this kind of research, describe the design you submit in that context so that I don't just judge the cover based on how it looks in isolation.

  You can use stock images if you want but because a lot of other marketing books use stock images and I want this to stand out, I would prefer if it were original work.

  Hello. I am interested in your project and I like the way you pointed out what you want. I have a question about your funnel image: are you interested in those colours specifically or you want only the idea of a funnel designed in a catchy way with the colours I consider appropriate(that is: can the funnel have only one colour, or two or more or are we bound to use those colours?).   You are not bound by those colours no. I used that as an example because I felt the use of multiple colours in this way would attract the eye, but don't let that limit your creativity.
