I did something similar a few years back for a friend who buys used phones so I believe I still have an idea of exactly what you are looking for. I can help you build the custom calculator working based on the mysql database. in fact, i can make it extendable in case you need to add more fields to the form at a later stage. I will do one thing. I will work on a sample application and provide a preview to you. It will built on php-mysql on the server end and javascript on the front user-end. You can manipulate the variables on the backend using a php-mysql interface. Please let me know if that works well for you. I need some info from your end. I AM REAL Hi! I am a recently University graduate looking for work. I actually worked on a course project dealing with a SQL database with a PHP script and JavaScript interface. Just to let you know, you're going to need a PHP script or some other server side script to interact with the database as JavaScript cannot do this directly (and rightfully so!). Provided I don't have to do any design, and could just deliver a basic form, this is a pretty simple and straightforward job. The necessity to store things in a Database could be something to discuss - for instance, you mention writing the data to a DB, and that's really the only constraint forcing you to go in that direction at the moment. If the tool's only need is to perform a calculation and not to store data, you could go with much simpler options; a JSON file etc. If it helps you in your interactions with other programmers, what you basically want is: A web form Server Side Script in PHP or another language to query the DB and return the results You technically do not even need JavaScript - it all depends on if you want a response from the server (It seems like you just want an e-mail sent), or if you'd like this to be an AJAX request (new page doesn't load, a message is displayed where the form was for instance).
