WebBased Mass Email application with MSSQL backend. ## Deliverables **Features: Admin Section (secured with forms authentication from db, email as username and password): ** ***Create New User ***Track Emails Sent Per Mailout Track Emails Opened Per Mailout (image load intercept) Track Links Clicked Per Mailout (most likely some form of trapped redirect) **User Features (secured with forms authentication from db, email as username and password): ** ***Properties ***Change User Settings Set User's own SMTP server with authentication ***Manage Contact Lists*** Create New Contact List, ability to enter emails, names manually ability to import emails using import tool, probably CSV, by default user should be able to do export from outlook into CSV and then use that file to upload their mailing list into selected contact list, so simple, no column variation since this will only support import outlook exported lists each contact list will have default email from address and email from name properties ***View Templates ***List of HTML templates developed for user. Just ability to view so present a list and on click display static page in new window. ***Manage Mass Mailings ***Process is as follows. User starts new mailout, picks a Contact List, then picks the Template that will be loaded into a WebHtmlEditor like FreeTextBox. I will create the static templates for each client manually when they sign up. You will pull that with WebClient library from a regular HTML file and load into html text box. The user will then put their text and put their links into the template loaded in editor. We will append at the end of the message, our intercept image that will mark the email (for each user) as read and capture IP adres, time and date when the email was opened. Each link in the email will be transformed into our redirect trap (for each link, in each email for each user) and again capture IP, time and date. So as you send each email out you have to update database for each email sent for each user on mailing list so later we can tell emails opened and links clicked. Think about how you will send these emails. If the contact list has 20,000 emails we will most likely want to use some form of Queueing maybe MSQS so the server doesn't choke. ***Reports*** When you design database you should keep in mind that we need to be able for example to go to the mailing #17 from last Monday, and see if Mr Jones read his email, and if he did, what links he clicked from his email. As well as aggregated reports for each mailout. Some of this functionality will cross over from the Admin section but you have to make sure that users cannot just change a query string parameter and see someone elses reports. ***SUMMARY: ***Well, this is it in the nutshell. There may be some slight variations from what is described here but this is the scope and this is what needs to be built. We have 60 days to do it. At the end of 30 days I need a functional prototype and at that time I will release 50% of the funds from RAC escrow to you. ***HELP AND ASSISTANCE: ***This is actually an easy and fun project to work on and a good excersise. I have various examples of email source in c#, I have ready code to give you with FreeTextBox settings and implementation, I have working code of WebClient that pulls the html file and makes it an email. I will assist you with database implementation and creation of necessary stored procedures. For the prototype you can use basic layout (menu with functions on left, 150 or so pixels and rest on the right) No input validation required for prototype but necessary for release.
