This project is produce an single chip speech synthesizer exactly or somewhat like the old GI SP0256-AL2 IC or the new Magnevation SpeakJet IC using an small microcontroller like a Microchip PIC, Atmel AVR or Cypress PSoC. Preference is the PSoC device but I am open to other MCU's.
Sound is generated either by DAC or PWM. The SP0256-AL2 used LPC compression to generate phonemes which allowed some smoothing between sounds. Phonemes are synthesized in real time using either LPC or some other low bit rate audio compression. I am not interested in approaches where SP0256-AL2 samples are played back from EEPROM.
MCU will accept data over a serial port. Data is single byte data where each byte represents a single phoneme or timed silence. The phoneme set can be the same as the SP0256-AL2. See the SP0256-AL2 datasheet for more details. I would consider other phoneme sets if you have better suggestions.
I already have a english text to speech algorithm I can use to convert English text to SP0256-AL2 or other phoneme codes but would be interested in other TTS alogorithms if you have suggestions.
I can provide recordings of phonemes as needed.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
