Windows serial interface control

I need to have a very simple serial communications interface that will run on a dialog type window. The project should be built in Visual C++ preferably Ver 8 or at least fully compatible with V8 as I will be making minor changes in the future. The sole functionality of this interface is to talk to a PIC microcontroller that is talking to the PC via a virtual serial comm. Port using the FTDI FT232RL chip this interface is to control a DDS function generator chip which is attached to the PIC micro controller
