PHP - SOAP Client

I have a fully working PHP application which is a SOAP client which uses M2M and a WSDL web-service to send/receive SMS messages. The project would be to take my project and simplify it, at the moment it has a lot of features which I wouldn't use or need, and I am trying to learn PHP through a friend, so I would like some of the features stripped away so that it is just an application which does the following: - Has the login system - Downloads the SMS messages from the SOAP server - validates, sanitises, stores the messages in the local database - allow a logged in user to view the stored messages All of this code is written already, but I would like everything else stripped away, whether this means the code is re-written is up to the coder, but all of the code is here. Finally, I would like to be assisted in getting the code running locally on my machine, and basic unit testing done and documented.
